The Catalan centre-back and Pedri assess the match against Atlético de Madrid.
Barça bid farewell to 2024 with a great match. On Saturday they face Atlético de Madrid at Montjuïc. Simeone's men are in good form and level on points with Hansi Flick's men. Pedri, one of Barça's captains, believes it is an ideal match to get back on track in La Liga.
"I think it's a great game to turn around the recent results in the League, to get over that slump. We want to give this Christmas present to the fans," the Canary Islander explained on 'Barça One'. Pedri also spoke about the loss of Lamine Yamal. "Lamine's absence is important because he gives us a lot, but we have to focus on the players we have. We have the squad to win the game."
Pedri admits that it will be a difficult match against a great rival. "They can play in a low block and with a defensive line that 'Cholo' always works very well with. They have differential players and they are in a good moment. It will be a difficult rival," he admits.
Pau Cubarsí has similar words to Pedri's. "It's always a tough game, you have to go out with very clear ideas and 100% because Atlético is a great team. We're doing very well in the Champions League, but we've taken a step back in the League. We have to be ourselves," explained the Catalan centre-back, who also regrets the loss of Lamine: "It's a fundamental loss because he gives us a lot in attack, but we have other players who will do it perfectly."
And he has a clear objective to achieve. "The objective we had was to be leaders in January and if we win we will achieve it," he also concluded on 'Barça One'.
