A quadrilha é um estilo de dança folclórica coletiva que está presente em todo o Brasil. Chamada de quadrilha junina, quadrilha matuta ou quadrilha caipira, sua linguagem gestual e corporal é algo predominante na cultura nordestina, região do país onde se destaca seu estilo caipira.
É um estilo de dança que renasce todos os anos nos meses de junho e julho, período das festas juninas. Dentre suas características, temos:
- Música caipira;
- Bailarinos vestidos com roupas coloridas e/ou caipiras;
- A dança ocorre com vários casais que interagem dentro do grupo;
- O estilo é baseado em passos tradicionais.
Para que a quadrilha aconteça é necessário um palestrante, marcador ou animador (seu nome dependerá da região do país), um responsável pela animação e determinação dos passos de dança, dependendo de sua desenvoltura, também pode fazer parte da coreografia.
A dança representa uma celebração de casamento, uma homenagem a Santo Antônio, o santo casamenteiro. Um casal se destacará como noivo e noiva, ali estará o padre e os demais serão os convidados. A festa está organizada.
Durante a coreografia, o palestrante pode citar frases populares, engraçadas ou frases que fazem parte da animação da festa, além de determinar as etapas que determinam o andamento da apresentação.

ORIGEM DA QUADRILHA
Sua origem foi na Inglaterra e, através de um processo de aculturação, foi incorporada e adaptada pela cultura francesa. Tornou-se famosa na Europa e, dada a colonização dos portugueses no Brasil, essa cultura foi recebida, adaptada e transformada aos padrões brasileiros, conquistando o povo e tornando-se símbolo das festas juninas.
COMPETIÇÕES DE QUADRILHA
As cidades costumam criar competições entre diferentes quadrilhas, uma das maiores competições do país é realizada na cidade de Campina Grande na Paraíba. O estilo faz toda a diferença, os homens geralmente usam chapéus de palha e camisas xadrez, enquanto as mulheres usam vestidos longos que encantam os olhos enquanto caminham. As roupas costumam usar muitas cores.

The square dance is a style of collective folk dance that is present throughout Brazil. It is called the June quadrilha, Matuta quadrilha or caipira quadrilha, its gestural and body language is something predominant in Northeastern culture, the region of the country where its bumpkin style stands out.
It is a dance style that is reborn every year in the months of June and July, the June festival period. Among its characteristics, we have:
