Today's walkie-talkie video is all about a big change that SFI announced at the beginning of the month! Although "SFI" is still going to be around, I'm not hanging around with the program any more, as I explain on my stroll down the hill from my morning teaching gig on a chilly Saturday lunchtime:
For over a decade, SFI (sfimg.com) has been a small but consistent part of my online business.
I joined in 2007 and it was one of the first programs that I actually started to earn commissions with when I started online affiliate marketing. For the last ten years or so, I've treated it as a “back-burner” program - low effort but reliably profitable.
However, after years of tweaks and changes, SFI is now stepping away from its affiliate program entirely.
SFI had its moments!
Back in 2009, SFI launched TripleClicks, a platform which had great potential. For a while, I earned a steady income selling digital products. Unfortunately, rampant scamming forced them to change the platform’s model, ultimately phasing out digital goods altogether and severely limiting who could sell stuff on the platform.
Another initiative, Rewardical tokens, provided decent rewards early on, but lately, its value has diminished. We can no longer convert them into affiliate commissions or Bitcoin, so there's no point in winning or earning them anymore.
One of SFI's most successful ventures has been its Eager Zebra games platform. I quite enjoy some of the games, especially ones that paid out Rewardicals - when Rewardicals could be converted into commissions or Bitcoin (see above).
However, I'm not going to hang around to play now the rewards are essentially meaningless - when it comes to online games, I'd much rather play chess on Gameknot.com, and run NFT monster battles on Splinterlands.
SFI is Closing its Affiliate Program - and Promoting Wealthy Affiliate!
At the beginning of December, Gery, the owner of SFI, announced that he's closing the affiliate program and invites all SFI affiliates to migrate to Wealthy Affiliate:
Wealthy Affiliate isn’t new to me - I’ve been a premium member since 2015, and it’s been a cornerstone of my online business, with much more potential than SFI! So I'm happy to see this move and have already welcomed my active affiliates into the program.
As SFI winds down its affiliate program, I’m ready to let it go. I'm not interested in investing any time or resources into their games platform or Ecommergy magazine. My focus is on my "top five programs," one of which is Wealthy Affiliate, as well as a couple of my own online initiatives that I discuss from time to time on this blog.
If you’re an SFI affiliate wondering what to do, Wealthy Affiliate is worth checking out, especially if you are serious about building an online business as it has tools and training that can help you succeed.
For me, it's time to say "Goodbye" to SFI and focus on the more lucrative parts of my online business in 2025!
