So I did try a bit of meditation a couple of nights ago. Relaxed my body, focus on my sensations, then let thoughts run through my mind and tried to let them go instead of paying much attention to them. I tried to picture nothingness (although a little bit more honestly, a white light emerging from a slightly dark background). Certainly achieved a calming effect for the first time, but this is going to take a lot more than a single try to achieve the desired long-term effects. I'll keep it going, and it's something that I should turn into a daily routine.
Worked on Thanksgiving, covering a colleague's shift so that he could see his family that day. I live with my Mom, so I am fortunate enough to see her anyway. I'm not thrilled that I basically left her alone all day on Thanksgiving, but we weren't planning anything special anyway... it was basically a regular Thursday for us.
We are spending the entire weekend together, however - Saturday and Sunday. If that sounds "normal," it's worth keeping in mind that I usually work 6-7 days per week, hence a 2 day weekend is uncommon.
I'll have a vacation coming up from December 25th or 26th, lasting for 2 weeks. That'll be a nice break and opportunity to catch up on sleep.
Either over this weekend or early next week, I'll send out some more of October's prizes. It's very slow this time, I know... but I've prioritized my own well-being for a change. A break is something I could certainly use.
