I have talked and will continue to do so in a section of the blog about animals that are harmful to the garden, but there are also many animals that are beneficial to the garden. These are the predators that help us control pests in the most efficient and clean way possible. Our job will be to attract them and respect them so that they can help us get the best harvests.

The Hedgehog is one of my favourite animals and also a great helper in the garden so if you see one don't do anything to it. Some people may not like having it on their land for a couple of reasons. It eats our precious earthworms and because it digs up the soil to do so.
But I disagree and I affirm like many others that it is a more beneficial animal than harmful. It is true that it eats earthworms but it eats many more snails and slugs doing a great job for us. It is also true that it moves the soil to find its prey but it does not do it aggressively so it does not usually damage the roots of our vegetables. What it does do is keep the weeds at bay so we do not have to work so hard.
Also these are adorable animals that I love. Very playful when they are small and it is a pleasure to have them in my garden.
