Why do people lie?
Evolution, lying is about being selfish, and some selfishness is rewarded evolutionary, but only to an extent.
If you had only one wish, what would you wish for?
Peace, just that simple really, for all to "do no harm to others".
And real peace can never be forced, since that force would also be a lack of peace in itself, actual peace is more than just the lack of open conflict, it's a lack of hostile intentions, and that can only happen voluntary.
