I'm on day one of trying a new breakfast combo, and unfortunately, the person I asked to get the ingredients for me because they were already going shopping assumed I was saying a 35-calorie protein bread was healthy bread and got 100-calorie whole wheat bread instead. I was hoping to keep things under 300 calories, but I didn’t realize how much unsalted butter added to the totals.
Ingredient breakdown:
1 tbsp butter (100 calories)
1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese (80 calories)
Whole wheat bread (100 calories)
6 tablespoons liquid egg whites (50 calories)
Total: 330 calories
I'm thinking of maybe doing half a slice of bread and 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, which will lower the calorie count down to 240. If I reduce the butter too, I can lower it further and throw in some fruits or veggies to mix with the omelette for more nutrients. But I'm still a rookie at counting my calories and things, so I feel like I'm making mistakes a lot.
