A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.
The day of the first Saturday of the month of June begins with the uncertain weather. A strong sun overheats the environment and the humidity of the sea winds soaks the air making breathing difficult. Stormy clouds are a constant threat to the #iamalivechallenge 364.
The other big obstacle to my visit to the city occurred despite I had come down early in the morning to avoid queues. Metro 1 in Piazza Garibaldi has been stormed by tourists who flock to the wonderful royal city of Naples.
Not wanting to waste time in this chaos I opted to take a tour in the Basilica of San Pietro all'Aram and to cross the wonderful doors carved in the wood of this ancient Neapolitan church building.
The church was built in 1200 on an early Christian temple of the first centuries after Christ that, in its underground crypt closed to the public, hides the catacombs where the first Christians performed their rites in secret.
The sacred monument that is a hidden gem of the little-known and little-visited city has in the altar of Saint Peter its place of greatest religious interest. Here, it is said, the apostle of Jesus of Nazareth came to preach in Naples and converted Saint Aspreno and Saint Candida to Christianity, healing them from terminal diseases.
The Ara Petri is the first Christian altar where Holy Mass was celebrated in Naples and where various bishops then celebrated the rite in the early centuries of Christian history.
The altars of the Neapolitan churches are always beautiful and the artists and sculptors who design them always give the best of themselves creating masterpieces that leave breathless the faithful who attend the holy masses. On the sides of the altar there are two valuable paintings by the great Baroque painter Luca Giordano who put on display in his youth all his prodigious gifts.
The church in the shape of a Latin cross is very large and the 4 side chapels are frescoed by wise hands and contain all works of fine workmanship. I will definitely do another crypto-post dedicated to the church because they were really impressed and I have to deepen every detail.
After visiting the church I walked the area of Trianon where there are excellent pizzerias among which stands a real temple of Neapolitan pizza or the "Pizzeria da Michele". Here you can taste only two types of pizza: Margherita and Marinara and never try to ask for another variety of pizza if you do not want to receive bad answers.
I wanted to celebrate my #iamalivechallenge 364 in the lights of the nightly Neapolitan #alive but I was stuck in a traffic jam and chaos caused by a concert in Piazza Plebiscito so I leave you a joyful daytime selfie.
Finally, I would like to thank all my friends from the tribe of #Alive and all the new friends who happened between the lines of my stories for reading my thoughts and see you at the next #actifit report.
