The rain finally relented, and the sun tried to make an appearance. It was cold at about six or seven degrees, but I thought i needed to take advantage of the dry weather and take a ride. The ground was a little wet and flooded in places out in the woods but that is not a problem.
My route today was out to Tilgate Park again with a little detour along the way!
The great thing about my town is that we are surrounded by forests and public parks. So the shere variety of different routes is staggering.
To get there requires negotiating some town tunnels and busy roads. But it is all worth it when you see the scenery. Even in winter, it is quite refreshing.
The fishermen were out in force, probably in a competition, by the look of their formation along the bank.
I stopped at the Lakeside Cafe for a coffee. The bacon butties are good here too but not today! I brought my own nutrient bar to keep me going today.
Cycling off-road can mean negotiating the occasional obstacles like this tangled mess of wooden posts and fences.
I used to lift my bike over styles when i had a carbon frame, but this new electric mountain bike is far too heavy for that! That fact has limited my choice of tracks but there are still many more to try.
Todays ride was good, in fine winter weather. No wind, dry, but wet surfaces and some tracks covered by water in places. My bike needed a good rinse off as soon as i got home. It's best to do this before it dries hard.
