Fuerteventura grand tour by coach.
We took a lovely excursion today by coach, an eight hour trip taking in many locations around the island.
First stop was a goat cheese factory.
I didn't sample the product myself but it was interesting nonetheless.
Next we visited an Aloe Vera factory. There are many such places here on the island.
Aloe Vera has many health benefits but most products available do not contain enough of the raw material to be effective.
The main picture shows a very old example of an Aloe plant. Looks more like a tree!
Next we travelled into the mountains.
Visiting a place called Betancuria. A pretty town which was originally the capital town of Fuerteventura. Nowadays the capital is Puerto del Rosario on the east coast.
It felt quite chilly, due to low cloud. At this time of year it can be damp, luckily today it was dry but cloudy. We were told by our tour guide that Fuerteventura has had a wet winter. The landscape is quite green due to the vegetation that has taken advantage of the extra rain.
We enjoyed the trip, it's nice to see a large part of the island like this. Well worth the money in my opinion.
Just as a side note, our coach was stopped by the Guardia as we travelled back. They were checking vehicle tacos! I think our coach driver was ok this time!
