Hello, Hivers and Silver Bloggers!
In the last few days I've been a bit missing in action, not to say that as Super Ed @tengolotodo would say, I'm in a CBA mode. 😆 I have a few things going on at the same time and as the month progresses, I only think that it will be less time before my son comes home to spend the holidays. So at home, we are preparing to get the things we have pending as soon as possible and be able to enjoy in December a few quiet days with the family.
But not everything has been work, the weekend was also full of many pleasant moments with friends and family and one or another sweet and not-so-sweet treat. So I'll try to combat the CBA and write about my weekend.
To start ahead of the weekend on Thursday, my mom had her birthday. My sister and nephews have been down with the flu these days and my nephew with Dengue so we decided to postpone the birthday celebration, but I couldn't let it go under the table and my mom and I went out for a snack.
And although I am on my regimen of trying not to eat sugar, the special occasion deserved a treat and I couldn't resist a pasteis de nata.
I always thank life for having my mother and this year especially since we both celebrated life after last year we both had some big issues with our health. It's been more than a year since my mom got a pacemaker and she is doing very well. So the cream cake was more than justified and it was delicious, with the crunchy crust and the cream just right.
Then on Friday, the husband and I went to the premiere of a friend's play.
If you are in Caracas and want to have a good time, I highly recommend the play, it is called La Azotea and it will be played these days at the Centro Cultural de Arte Moderno, in what used to be the BOD Tower.
As it was the premiere there was a toast afterwards. And the glasses of wine made us hungry, so when we left we went straight to an arepera. It had been a long time since I had been to an arepera at night, but we were craving to eat a Reina Pepiada.
When they brought us the arepas, I couldn't believe the size.
Could you take a bite of that arepa @tengolotodo? It was so good and I don't know how I managed to eat it all.
And then Saturday came and it had been so long since we had eaten pasta and hubby was craving it, so we went out for lunch at our favorite Italian pasta place.
But first, we had to leave Milo satisfied and happy. We spoiled him with his favorite delicacy, fresh tuna. And here he is lying down after eating and thinking about moving to his favorite chair to take a nap after a good meal. 😹
And the husband and I went to eat at Dalidia, a small restaurant where the specialty is pasta. This place is for me one of the best places to eat pasta in town with authentic Italian flavor.
And one of my favorites is the zucchini pasta. It is made with aioli, a little anchovy, and crunchy zucchini pieces, all topped with pecorino cheese. A simple dish with so much flavor.
And while we were there, we couldn't miss dessert. It's hard to say no to a traditional cannoli with pistachio topping.
So on Sunday, since we had a guilty conscience from all the food we had eaten over the weekend, we got up early and headed to the mountains. A couple of hours of hiking to burn off the calories and not feel guilty. 😅
The rest of our sublime Sunday was spent at home watching movies and relaxing, and as always the most relaxed during the afternoon was Milo. 😺
I always wonder how he can sleep in that position, in which he looks like a little ball of hair. 😆
And that was my weekend. I hope yours was great as well.
Have a happy week!
