Today when my girls started talking about baking sweet buns with apples and berries the topic of this post came to my mind quite naturally lol.
Yes, sweets and sweet tooths are an interesting topic sometimes very controversial.
The Ministry of Health warns that sweets are sometimes of little use and moreover, for some categories of people they are categorically harmful but I doubt that there are people who have never wanted to eat something sweet and sometimes or even often or as a rule lol I don’t prioritize the word “usefulness” I just want to enjoy sweets.
Someone will say that the desire for sweets is a weakness but it depends on how you look at it because there is a large share of strength in this, because lovers of sweets are very inventive and know how to get what they want with benefit for themselves and try to learn the world around them as best as possible.
Sweets are what I associate with the geography of our world for example when I think of Asian countries, it is sherbet Turkish delight baklava and various exotic fruits.
I like to travel in such a sweet world but let's talk about the ingenuity of sweet-tooths which is their inherent strength.
The immensity cannot be grasped and many sweet things are learned for the first time.
So about forty-five years ago finding myself in a tiny town near the seashore I first learned that schoolchildren earn extra money during the summer holidays by collecting rose petals from which enterprises obtain precious rose oil but for themselves the petal collectors made rose petal jam.
This jam has a slightly peculiar taste which I could not appreciate then but when you want something sweet it can easily pass for dessert.
In my homeland there is no bush called viburnum that produces berries with a specific smell but once having tried jam from these berries I realized that it was delicious and now we often brew these berries with boiling water and sugar and drink this decoction it lowers blood pressure by the way about health.
When I was sick with colds to reduce fever my grandmother and mother gave me tea with raspberry jam for me it is a delicious sweetness but this jam is too sweet even for me and I think that you can add orange zest to it for sourness.
On the path to learning the world of sweets you can feel like a pioneer this is a wide road open to everyone who wants something sweet.
Do you remember how in childhood children were greedy they could fight with each other and all because of sweets no one fought because of a plate of semolina porridge sweets made us stronger lol and when we already knew how to show kindness and mercy sweets taught us better feelings.
In my thoughts there was a complete lack of understanding of the taste of this sweetness but as it turned out, this is what I really liked in the end.
A sweet tooth knows not only where the pantry with jam is in his apartment and where the confectionery stores are in the city he knows where to get sweets even in the forest like for example the sweet pulp of an acacia pod.
I don’t remember exactly I think I was thirteen or fourteen years old when I first tried jam from young walnuts.
The photo shows old ripe nuts, and when they are green and semi-soft they are used to make sweets.
The process is very labor-intensive and I don't understand how people came up with the idea of soaking young nuts in lime to make them even softer I really like jam made from them.
I experienced another cultural shock when I tried jam made from young pine cones it reminded me of a soda from my childhood called Sayany a very unusual but excellent taste.
You won't be able to make sweets from such old cones, although who knows maybe one day some sweet tooth will be able to come up with something lol.
While writing this post I wanted to eat an apple that is waiting for me in the refrigerator... will you say that it is a healthy sweet?
This may be a false statement, especially if you have never been in the refrigerated chambers where apples are stored.
They are treated with sulfur gas and other chemicals so that they do not rot, and worms definitely do not live in these apples therefore the question of the usefulness of these or those sweets is very controversial.
But the knowledge of sweet tooth about sweets is definitely their power!
