Four Years: Saturday July 20 2024

in Actifit2 months ago

Time passes so quickly, yet the present feels like it's never been different. It's weird how us humans just get used to things.

Today is my four year anniversary of living in the village and taking care of grandma. In the beginning I thought I'd be here for a couple of weeks, maybe two or three months. Now it's been four years already.

She broke her leg during the covid lockdowns and the hospitals were like prisons back then. Her bones healed quite well but her dementia took the heaviest hit. It's such a cruel illness and so tough to witness. Certainly the biggest challenge in my life to preserve some quality of life for a person that has long forgotten how to speak.

I'm exhausted. To be honest, I think I am getting pretty close to burning out.

I am not sure how long I can keep this going but the alternatives aren't looking too great either. I have grown with the challenge and I've learned a lot, about myself and about life in general... but damn I am so exhausted!

aaaanyways...

Today I saw this funky caterpillar on the road. The pictures turned out a bit blurry, but look at this radical hairstyle!

And of course, I won't let you leave without sharing today's sunset, too.

Thanks for your time!

I can only imagine how exhausting this must be...
🤗

just be glad you probably can't.

it's far beyond what I could have imagined four years ago and I might not be here now if I could have.

but despite all the emotional struggles and my lack of proper sleep... I've also never lived with a better purpose than now... two sides to every coin... I won't call it a silver lining, though!

taking walks is like teflon for the soul 😉
